Wedding Day

The wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 PM at the  May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden, next to the San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park. As soon as we’ve exchanged our vows, we’ll get the party started with cocktails at the sculpture garden, then walk across the park for dinner and dancing at the Spanish Village Art Center.

If you need help finding the wedding location or have any other questions on the day of the event, please call Katherine’s friend Teal: 619-405-8902.

You will get a glimpse of Balboa Park during the wedding, but there is plenty more to see and do at the park, including the World Famous San Diego Zoo! Come back if you have time during your visit. It is one of our favorite spots in San Diego.

Parking

If you plan to drive the day of the Wedding, allow yourself extra time to find parking. Click on this map for Parking information:

Both the North and South Carousel lots are near the reception venue (Spanish Village, #3 on map). The Alcazar lot is closest to the ceremony (behind SD Museum of Art, #10 on map) but often full, so you may need to park in the Organ Pavilion lot. Any of these lots are a short 5-10 minute walk from either the ceremony or reception.

Balboa Park Tram

You can also try the tram to help you get around Balboa Park. Departing from Tram Central, next to the large parking lots near Inspiration Point (east of Park Boulevard at Presidents Way), free Balboa Park Trams operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Leaving every 10 to 12 minutes, they follow a loop route, taking passengers to a drop-off station in the Plaza de Panama, located directly in front of the Museum. Tram Hours:
Summer Hours | June 1 – October 31
Monday | 8:15 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday – Sunday | 8:15 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Wondering What to Wear?

In terms of wedding attire, aim to dress anywhere from Casual to Semi-Formal (i.e. ties are optional) but whatever you do, you gotta look good. Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors so make sure to check the weather and dress accordingly (i.e. sunglasses, sweater, hats, what-have-you). Comfy shoes are also a good idea since there’s a short walk between the ceremony and reception.
